Main Features

This is a copper tube manufactured according to EN 12735-1 and pre-insulated with closed-cell polyethylene foam of regular and uniformly distributed dimensions (EN ISO 1578). It is supplied in coils. The copper tube diameter, as specified by EN 12735-1, is expressed in inches.

The insulating sheath is manufactured in full compliance with European Regulation CEE/EU 2037/2000, which requires the use of expanded insulating sleeves without CFCs or HCFCs, gases harmful to health and the environment. The sheath thickness is also designed to meet the multiple requirements of this application sector.

Given the specific nature of the field of use, special attention is paid to the external protective polyethylene film, which prevents condensation on the outer surface of the product. SMISOL Clim Aeterna®  also stands out for its particularly low eccentricity values, a very important characteristic for the swaging operation.

Internal Surface

The internal surface of the copper tube is bright, clean, and dry, fundamental characteristics of a product commonly available on the market for industrial use. This feature allows the creation of an integrated system with the terminal elements of the installation. The particular internal cleanliness of SMISOL Clim Aeterna®  is preserved by sealing the ends of each coil with plugs, directly during the production phase.

External Protection

The coating consists of closed-cell polyethylene foam with an average water vapor diffusion resistance factor “µ” greater than 40,000. The insulating sheath is manufactured in full compliance with European Regulation CEE/EU 2037/2000, which mandates the use of expanded insulating sleeves without CFCs or HCFCs, gases harmful to health and the environment, and has a fire performance rating of BL-s1-d0 according to EN 13501-1.

The external polyethylene film contains a pigment darker than the traditional white to counteract the crystallization process of PE. Moreover, conventional anti-UV additives can interfere with the flame retardant required for the product. To prevent this issue, the SMISOL Clim Aeterna®  sheath incorporates an eco-friendly halogen-free flame retardant that does not compromise UV protection.

Tests conducted according to ASTM G-155 (accelerated aging) demonstrate that SMISOL CLim Aeterna®  is suitable for areas with high annual solar irradiation. At the end of the exposure test, the sample showed no signs of degradation.

Scope of supply

Seamless drawn copper tube, manufactured in accordance with EN 12735-1, physical condition annealed R220, phosphorus-deoxidised copper Cu DHP (Cu + Ag: min. 99.90% – P: 0.015–0.040%) in accordance with EN 1412. The internal surface of the tube is cleaned in compliance with EN 12735-1 and ASTM B280, with soluble residue below 0.38 mg/dm², ensuring a bright internal surface finish. Permanent marking is applied every 60 cm by embossing on the external surface of the copper tube. During production, the tube is coated with a closed-cell expanded PE-LD insulation, featuring thermal conductivity λ ≤ 0.038 W/mK, protected by a blue anti-UV PE film (Pantone 302C). The water vapour diffusion resistance factor “μ” exceeds 40,000. Ink marking on the outer surface of the insulation indicates progressive metre numbering and the SMISOL Clim Aeterna® brand. Fire reaction classification BL-s1-d0 in accordance with EN 13501-1. Tube ends are capped.
