SMISOL® Clim Platinum is the evolution of pre-insulated copper tubes designed for the air conditioning and refrigeration sector.
Manufactured by SCTubes in accordance with EN 12735-1, this product is specifically intended for the transport of refrigerant gases such as R32, R410A, R407C, and others.
The new outer film
SMISOL® Clim Platinum now features a new outer layer: a PE film containing a special silver-grey pigment designed to absorb UV radiation and protect the underlying closed-cell expanded PE insulation from ageing.
This issue is particularly relevant for sections installed outside buildings.
Solar radiation naturally emits ultraviolet rays, which impact exposed pipework and cause ageing of traditional closed-cell expanded PE insulation.
The UV-resistant barrier of SMISOL® Clim Platinum prevents this phenomenon over time, thus ensuring the long-term preservation of the tube’s insulating properties.
Key benefits
Long-lasting performance. Accelerated ageing tests, involving 4,000 hours of exposure to artificial light (simulating the effect of solar radiation), demonstrate resistance equivalent to over 3 years of continuous exposure in northern Italy or more than 2 years in southern Italy. Notably, at the end of the test, the samples remained perfectly intact.
Halogen free. The flame retardant added to the sheath compound contains no halogen elements (such as chlorine or bromine). This results in a significant improvement not only in UV resistance, but also in environmental sustainability — in line with the growing demands of a market increasingly focused on ecological responsibility.
Extremely low eccentricity. SMISOL® Clim Platinum is distinguished by its very low eccentricity, a crucial feature for this type of application, where flaring operations are required and wall thicknesses are below one millimetre, as specified by EN 12735-1.
